Jim, Need Your Comment On Tires
sizing will be 225/17/45, 255/40/17
i have had SO3s in the past, and loved them. excellent wet tire, and that's needed up in seattle.
what im wondering is the tire shape of the PS2. the SO3 has very stiff sidewalls and has a very squared off shape. the toyo's, on the other hand, have more of a rounded shape. what im wondering is what kind of shape the PS2 (Michelin Pilot Sport 2) has?
a rounded off shape will aid in rubbing, but a squared off shape will hinder rubbing (17x7.5 et 48). i had the same wheel but in 18x7.5 et 48 with a 225/40 SO3 and rubbed on stock suspension. im told that if a less squared tire was used, rubbing would have been alieviated.
also, it seems the SO3 and PS2 are very similary rated. how is the treadlife between the two? is one more durable than the other?
thanks.
if the PS2 is squred off as well, then i will go down to a 215 tire and that will eliminate the PS2 right away (since they don't offer this tire size)

Hey Jim, I have been wanting to get the PS2s as well. Tell me how they stack up vs. the SO3s. I am looking for the best gripping and longest lasting tire on the market...regardless of price. I have always loved Michelin's so I am hoping they have good grip. I don't care about wet traction even though I hear the PS2s are great in the rain. Thanks in advance!
