Default Jim Tire Question....

Jim,
I have Yokohama AVS tires on my S2000 They are no longer manufactured and I need to replace the rears. If I buy the Bridgestone 750's for the rears, would that present a handling /safety problem with the AVS on the fronts (they have 50% tread left). I do want to go with the 750's eventually for the fronts.
Thanks for your opinion.

You are at least in the same kind of tire and you can't rotate them so you would be fine. It is not the best handling set up to have mismatched tires but you would not hurt the car.
If I can help let me know.

I love the RE750's. You should go with 245's in the rear (I believe). I'm about to either go with those or stick to S02's, for my next set.

I haven't put 245's in the rears yet (the ones I have are 225 Dunlops--and yeah, they suck) Would you post some pics of how the 245's fit on the stock AP1 rims? Thanks.

Do you currently have the RE750's on your car? What do you like about them?

Will show pics when I get them installed....

I actually had them on my ITR, which I tracked. They're not the BEST performing tire, but they did really well. The reason why I like them is, they have excellent treadlife, stiff sidewalls, does well in the rain and sticks pretty well. It's a very good all around summer performance tire. I'm probably going to go with a set of the RE750's for everyday use and either Hankook's or Falken RT615's for track use next season.

What's an "ITR"? How many miles did you get from your 750's? I am not interested in a wet weather tire as I only drive in the rain if I am caught .. I am expecting about 20-25k miles from the 750's.

I have had them on my BMW for two years and when I put my snow tires on this year they still looked new. I am an aggressive drive and they handle quite well with very good ride quality.
If I can help let me know.

An ITR is an Integra Type R. I got a little more than 30k out of the tires, which included several auto-x's. I was able to rotate the tires also, so I probably got a little more use out of them. I'm expecting roughly about the same amount of miles for the S2k, since I will have another set of tires for track.

But if you're not worried about the wet stuff and if these will be your only set of tires, personally, I'd go for S02's or S03's. People have gotten 15-20k miles out of them. The RE750's are still a good choice, though.
