there are 1000 threads about this topic...

a brief comparison -

MX's are a max performance tire, great dry traction, OK wet traction, short treadlife

SPT's are more of an all around tire, good dry, good wet, good treadlife.

So decide what you want the most and pick the tire that fits your needs.
If I can help let me know.

To add another tire to the mix, I've read if going with a mid level all around tire like the SPT, Fuzions ZRis are great option in this price and performance range

Boy, I've been thinkimg alot about this lately. With Bridgestone's rebate, you can get $50 off a set of 4 RE-750's. That's only about $120 more than the Fuzions (also made by Bridgestone). The offer ends soon (May5?). I think I'm ghoing to pull the trigger.

I ran the 712s for awhile in other cars. Two sets.

Best tire in the rain I've ever had. Dry is ok.

I think the SPTs should be better than the 712s in all conditions.

I feel stock 04 tires suck in the wet for my kind of driving. :-)

I ran Kumho MX's the past 3 years, this year I opted for Kumho SPT's because I was tired of replacing my rears every year. The SPT's are about $40. cheaper (apiece) than the MX's yet I find them to have minimal handling differences. Plus I anticipate these tires to last me about 24k miles for the rears compared to the 12-14k miles I was getting out of the MX's.
