Update: I decided to talk to rep at kuhmo again to see when that xs replacement is due to come out and apparently it got delayed until early 2015 rather then this year, and they won't know one way or another if they will continue my size 295/35/17 tire until late this fall

So it's 315/35/17 for you?

I would like to go as wide as possible. I'm still undecided if I should go with 295/30/18 on the stock body or with 315/35/17 with a wide body.

Update: I called summit racing as they were one company still advertising for the size, and a few others recommended I look into it further, so I called them and long story short, they told me they could get the old xs in this size in 1-2 weeks and ship to me. This surprised me as it contradicts everything I've gathered to this point, which is kuhmo discontinued the run of that size tire indefinitely. Only thing I can figure is kuhmo decided to do another 2014 run, possibly becuase the v720 was delayed a year. If this is the case it would be terrific news for me, but I will believe it when I see it, so I'm going to wait a few weeks and call back and check in and see if they indeed got a shipment in before I order. Keep you guys posted.

Not surprising the release date got pushed back. Hankook also pushed back the release of the R-S4 until either fall 2014 or early 2015 from what I heard. Coincidence? I think not.

Looks like these will be here soon!

From Kumho:

"We are very excited to continue our support of grassroots motorsports as we enter the new year," the spokeswoman said. "Kumho has a long history of involvement in grassroots racing and we believe that a strong motorsports program is essential to our company's success."

Kumho also will be ramping up its outreach efforts in preparation for 2015 when, according to the spokeswoman, the company plans to release its Ecsta V720 tire—"the replacement to our popular Ecsta XS.

"When it is released in the first quarter of 2015, we are confident that the Ecsta V720 will be one of the fastest street tires available to grassroots racers," she said.

"To support the tire's launch, we are planning a number of events across the country, including ride-and-drives and increased sponsorship opportunities. We will also be sending motorsports staff to a number of events to support the new product and talk to racers about the technology that will make the Ecsta V720 the tire that they will want to race on in the 2015 season."

Indeed! I'm sure they will be competative in one way or another. I just hope they crank out a bunch of 295/35/17 for me.
