Default Which Kumho's Are the Best?

I've been doing some research and wanted to make sure that the Kumho Ecsta MX's were the ones that everyone raves about (not worried about wet/winter traction, just the best dry traction). If so, which rear size should I get? They don't make them in 245/50/16, only 225/50/16, yet I see reviews for them on TireRack.com. Are these tires an exception to the 245 aftermarket rule?

I liked my Ecsta MXs, and I had 255 rears. I'd go 225, 255.

I wouldn't have any qualms at all about running the MX's in 205F 225R.

There was a TDI Golf (Diesel!) running MX's at Mosport last week. He didn't have any complaints about the tires!

I'd go with SPT's they are a newer technology than the MX and seem to be very grippy/quiet/comfortable and cheap. A RX-8 guy datalogged 1.1G in the RAIN last weekend on a set of 225 SPT's.

MXs > SPT

The SPT is a more daily driver tire...the MX is better performer tire.

I bought some MXs from TireRack and they are great tires. Quiet along with great handling is always good. For the price you can't beat them. If you autocross, you can not change tire size from OEM if you don't want to get bumped into another class.

thanks for all the input guys. I ordered my MX's from Jim@TireRack yesterday and he vouched for them as well. Can't wait to grip again. I put 25k on my S02's
