Looking for better front tires
Hey guys I have been looking on tirerack for a tire that provides good grip and great wear. Some background info on the car...
The guy before be had brand new tires all around the car.
Fronts: cosco special literially they are the really cheap tires you buy at cosco 60 bucks per tire...215/55/16
Rears: I LOVE the tires I have on the rears they are Bridgestone RE050A Pole Position 225/50/16
The problem: Whenever I take a turn below speeds of 60mph my fronts give out WAY before the rears. If I try and take a 70 degree turn (pretty sharp) at 45mph or so my front tires just squeel losing traction. This does not matter if they are warm or not.
I was out handeled on an offramp by an camero that is on 50% tread left on his tires. Camero was an auto and was stock. This made me want new tires cause I know with better fronts I can easily take the same offramp at 65-70 instead of 55-60.
So what do you guys think about pairing Continental ContiExtremeContact 225/55/16 with RE050A pole positions 225/50/16?
Other front tires options are very welcomed!
THX for the help fellow s2k members!

Hum 050A PP are pretty expensive though and wear ok...there is no ther tire you guys could think of that would give me a good temp (6 month or so) set up for going 225 front and rear untile my rears are done then I am switching 255 in rear and keep them the same as fronts. So finding a good wearing and traction tire is key here!
You just have a bad set up on the car now. First you have the wrong size tire and probably the wrong speed rating as well. The car is going to under steer like crazy and that is what you are feeling.
Do not go with the Extrme Contact on the front with the RE050A on the rear. It is going to do the same thing as what you have now. In the colder weather the car with the Extreme on the front the car is going to over steer. Neither is good.
I would say either match the tires you have on the rear or at least match the type of tire.
If I can help let me know.

Well that narrows my search down to bridgestone
I think I will just throw in the extra money and get the exact same tires as the rear I dont feel like saving a few bucks here and there just to get understear then oversteer and never feel the true handeling of the car.
Now to move onto 215 on the front or should I go ahead and throw on 225 on the front. The rears have a good 80% life left. As soon as the rears are gone I am putting on 255's.
Thx for the help Jim!

I have the same problem, Wal*Mart specials on the front with a speed rating similar to that of a school zone and Bridgstone KickAss on the rear. Understeers like crazy. Crap tires are better than no tires..
One day Ill have money again.
