The best that I would have is the Yokohama Avid W4S at 117.00 per tire.

 

You bought the wrong car if you care about tires having a long tread life.

General Exclaim UHP has tread life of 380 and priced below $100/ea for 255/40-17. Some reviews from S2000 owners on tirerack are very good:

2007 Honda S2000: "After a flat tire due to puncture on my Bridgestone Potenzas. I bought two rear tires for my S2000. I went with the ratings from consumers and tried the General UHP. Fantastic tires. Incredible grip. Very quiet. Very "gummy". But a 380 tread wear. I was so impressed with the rears that I replaced the "OEM" fronts. I was also in a torrential Arkansas freeway downpour . Using proper caution I never lost traction. Fantastic tire for any price."

2001 Honda S2000: "I've had these tires on my s2000 for about 20k miles and I love them. They are smooth, excellent steering/handling. I was looking for a decent tire without the ridiculous cost of some of the other brands out there. I wish General made this tire for my other cars as well, Id probably stick with it. Its been the best bang for the buck tire I've ever had. Definitely recommend it."

2004 Honda S2000: "its great bargain....and the reduced noise level is a great for hwy driving... at least for now... im just racking up hwy miles right now... maybe ill regret it later when i loose a race to a Z or something..."
