Michelin Pilot Cups for S2000?
I drove a car in Connecticut last week that had Michelin Cup tires on it - they are rated for 80 in the wear area, but I have heard of them going 7-10k miles, so that might be OK if like me you do not drive every day, but yearn for gumball grip.
These tires were awesome - the owner told me he picked up nearly 1g in lateral acceleration - I could not confirm that, but if it did half that, it would be very noticeable.
I also do not know if they ate DOT approved for the street, or if they come in the sizes needed for 2003 and older, or 2004 or newer.
Just trying to stir up some energy in the slow Summer months.

........ had them on the S2000 for a summer maybe 3 years ago (but on 18" wheels 225/285) and they seem to heat cycle out if you used as your daily drivers.
BTW, there's no way the guy gained 1g, he might have gotten to 1g with the tires accounting for some small percentage (as in single digit percentage).

They are the only R compound tire I would recommend for street driving. They are DOT approved but I don't see you getting 10K on the rear of your car. Maybe 6 or 7 would be possible.
If I can help let me know.

Are the stock 2004 tire sizes available?
Or, are there other sizes close tostock size recommended that will not cause rubbing or other functional problems.
Thx.
RR.
RR, I just corded a set of PSCs, after really thrashing them around on the track and in autocross. They do take a licking and keep on ticking.
However, they seemed to me to get greasy in less than a full day on the track, so I wonder how well they deal with heat cycling.
They are DOT legal, but they really, really suck in the rain. Spin city.
I ran 255/40-17 on the rear, and 225/45-17 in the front, without any rubbing issues.
I'm going to try Toyo RA-1s now, which seems to be the popular choice for durable track tires for the S2000. I have an unshaved set (255/40-17 rear; 235/45-17 front; no rubbing issues) which I've used in wet conditions (they stick very well), and one day on a dry track, in which they worked well, but shaved would probably be better on a dry track.
I've got a Gendron front bar, which controls oversteer quite well.

For the S2K you would need the 225/45R17 and 255/40R17 rear and they will fit the 2004+ cars on stock wheels. The tires are different than other R compound tires and do like low air pressures.

Just got to use the PSC's in a S2K shoot out - I added coilover suspension with good alignment (stiff spring rates)
Used 245 40 17 front and 255 40 17 rears with TE37 17x9 +48 and 17x9 +65.
Recorded 1.04 G skid pad with 72.4 slalom.
Everyone said "it was the tires"
Everyone else had Advan A048's and although they had a lower treadwear rating than the PSC's (60 vs 80), the PSC's did the job.
