Is my "Frankenstein" setup a good idea?
I have an AP1 and I was looking for a cost-effective upgrade for some amateur STR AutoXing (previous mods bump me out of stock, and I don't like the idea of lugging Hoo$iers around). The car is my DD, so I want to keep a staggered setup, because I frankly have no idea how to properly adjust my suspension for a square set. I also like the suspension as it is for DD
I initially wanted to buy AP2V1s and run 225/255 tires, but they've been selling too quickly or I've had flaky sellers. I like the TR Motorsport C3s on TireRack; they seem to be just what I want. Nothing glitzy, just an inexpensive way to run 255s with enough offset for our cars. I only wish they had smaller front wheels for 225 tires (TireRack doesn't seem to recommend anything smaller than 235 on a 9" wheel).
Then I realized that the AP1 rears are 225 tires, and I could just put two TR C3s on the rear and have 255s mounted on them.
The silly looks wouldn't bother me at all, as these would be AutoX (and maybe track) dedicated wheels and tires. In fact, they might even make good conversation starters.
Has anyone else tried this? Would I have an issue using this setup?

i drove my friends 00 s2 and he had apv2v1's on it and it was a total different car. the car had a harder time getting up to speed and harder time stopping. my ap1 at the time had reg ap1 wheels and it was a MUCH MUCH sharper car. i thought something was just off about his car but then i soon realized its the wheels. i switched my rims to xxr 521's and now my car is so more dull...
so for your ap1 wheel go for it!
light weight and more grip!
