Default My wheel project - customized Volks GR-A's

Howdy Folks!

I picked up a set of JDM only Volk GR-A's (18x8.5, 18x9.5) a few week ago for an outstanding price - on a 1-10 scale the worst is maybe a 5, the best _maybe_ a 7, but it's all cosmetic.

So I've talked to a wheel repair/refinish expert - first going to have them cleaned up, lips smoothed, rash removed, etc.

Then I've got to decide what I want to do with the refinish - I can go polish, chrome, black chrome, PC, paint, mix of finishes, colors, you-name-it.

My car is a 2007 Silverstone, Red and Black interior - I'm going a few red highlights (like having some OEM calipers/brackets PC'ed red, got red-on-black S badges).

I'm 99.9% sure I don't want black centers with polished lips - even though it's a great look, I really want something different.

These are fairly light, mono-blocked forged wheels, so I'm not too worried about adding a little weight of a finish like chrome (and it's minor - I've done the weight deltas on the same wheels). I kind of dig on black chrome - it's adds a nice extra dimension with the black reflectiveness.

I've also been considering a machined center with a gloss black lip and possible a body colored pinstripe [?]

Comments? Suggestion?

I have a tire question regarding fitment - I know a common +1 fitment is a 225/40 front, 255/35 rear - do many people plus one again to a 235/265? I've seen some 275 rears, but I'd want to balance out the front to prevent any additional understeer. I'm willing to get the fenders rolled if need be.

Thanks!

DT

What are the offsets? That will play a big role on the tire size.

Here's the offsets - these should be accurate from the seller (and at least I know

(2) 18x8.5 +35
(2) 18x9.5 +40

The fronts are definitely that offsets (I confirmed via the original sticker on the inner barrel), assuming the rears are correct too (though I need to double check).

I was thinking about jacking the rear and doing a test fitment for kicks this weekend.

Here's the wheels as they sit right now:

The size and offset up front might give you some problems.

Yeah, I might wind up doing a test fit front and rears, maybe shoot some pics, so I can get a good sense of how this fitment is going to work out.
