Need help picking tires out
Hey guys, i just bought a set of 17'' volk le28 rims for my s2000. Now i need to pick tires out. The recamended sizes are: F-225/45/17 & R-255/40/17......
I was thinking about getting the potenza s03's, but i keep hearing mixed reviews about them. Some people rave about them, others say they suck. Anyway, i need a good summer tire, i have no need for all weather. What should i get. so3's are 792$, i want to be under 800$ all said and done.

If you're #1 concern isn't wet weather traction I wouldn't go with the S-03. The Kumho mx is much more affordable and better dry traction. If you want to stay with a national brand I would suggest the Goodyear GS-D3. Just my opinion but the S-03 is at the bottom of my list of prospects.
The S03 is the best all around tire that I have seen on the car. The GSD3 would be about 1.2" narrower contact patch than the OE tire. Handling would not be nearly as good. If you want the best dry handling tire I would stay with the S02 that came on the car. The MX is a very good dry handling tire but they would also be narrower than the stock tire.
If I can help let me know.

I really enjoyed the Kumho MX's on my CE28N's (same thing as your LE's - basically), but the Kumho are a very square tire and a bit heavier than most - so if you are looking for race performance (weight savings) and are super lowered (more than a finger gap) I would shy away from the MX's or roll your fenders.
Many people praise God that the S0-3's were made, and I just don't see it - had them on stock wheels, but I probably didn't give them the chance they deserved. Like someone mentioned: love/hate relationship..........and I'm not trying to rebut what Jim said about them.
I am currently loving the Goodyear GSD3's. Best wet traction I've ever seen. I'm suprised how well they do in sub 30 degree F weather too (once warm) - the Kumhos rode pretty rough when the temperature dropped below freezing. I certainly wouldn't recommend getting caught in the snow with any of these tires

Jim sold me every set of tires I've ever put on my S2000 - except the S0-3's - those were given to me.

Not impressed with my SO3's. I would try Toyo's or if you really want dry traction, Advan's.

Just put new S03's on my OEM 16's and I cant't compare to S02's never had em...The last set I had were BFG KDW and the S03's are much better. Iwent with the standard 205/55--245/45..
