Default Need a quick yes or no about offset

there should really be a sticky about what offsets/sizes work.....but for now I need to know will this work?

front: 17x7 offset: 40 or 47
rear: 17x8 offset: 45

also what size tire would you suggest on those? I was thinking 225/50's up front and 245/50's in the rear....but I'm new at this so please help me out.

thanks

Front should be ok with +47 and 215 tire.

Rear will rub. Maybe a 235 tire will be a better choice.

There is no definitive guide on what will and wont work. I posted a general summary in another post....maybe we should make it a sticky w/opinions+setups or something

I would run 215/45/17 Front and 235 or 245/40/17 Rear. PM jim@tirerack, he'll tell you what will work best with that setup

I would go with the 215/45R17 with the 47mm offset and the 245/40R17 rear. You may need to run a little more negative rear camber but otherwise you would be fine.
If I can help with the tires let me know.

alright sounds good, thanks for your help. I think I'll go with a 235 just to play it safe.

Let me know what you want to know about tires and what will and wont really work with this car. I have a great guide I use by all the experience with different offsets, tire sizes, wheel size, etc. I have gone through. I have been through 14 sets of wheels ranging from 16-18 inch and tires of all sizes and brands..

215/45/17 front
235/40/17 rears

With this you will not rub even at a 3 inch drop with -2.1 to -3.6 camber in the rear. Granted you will go through tires faster due to the excessive camber but its not like the tires are going to go in a day or a month.
245/40/17s you will rub on dips, bumps, etc. Depends on how low your going to go.
