Default Need some advice for meaty tire setup

I am looking to do a meaty tire setup with my S2 this time around, going for a functional setup. I have read tons and tons about this and i'm still confused what sizing I should be doing in regards of the wheels and tires. Hope to get some advice from all the experts on here.

-car is a weekend, occasional driver. Will be doing a few track events annually when the car is ready. Let's say 10% (if that; track time) and 90% street driven.
-will be lowered with 1-2 finger gap (or more gap if needed)
-hoping that I don't have to roll fenders
-would love a flush but functional setup (no crazy cambered/hellaflush stance)
-not sure I should be doing staggered or non-staggered (I did find the non-staggered thread, just not sure if that's the route i'd like to go) I love the look of staggered fitment on
these cars.
- 17" or 18" wheels? What size width and offset?

I have examples of cars I have seen online, but I don't want to post pictures just in the case the owner wouldn't like it.

Open to advice/guidance. Thanks!

Flush means rolled fenders. Period. Unless you stick with stock offsets you have to roll the fenders especially if lowered.

Let's go with a staggered setup. I can look through the non-staggered thread to see what I like.

is there a meaty staggered thread or info that i can't seem to find ?

Figure as much. However I'd like to see how close I can come without having to roll with meaty tires and not a lot of camber.

If rolling is needed then i'll just have to do it.

I told you how close you can come. OEM offsets. The front especially when lowered is very easy to damage the fender if they aren't rolled.

You can do a +72 10.5"/285/30/18 on the rear without rolling the fenders. It will still look near stock on the outside though. If you roll the fenders, then you can be more flush and aggressive on the wheel/tire size if 10.5/285 still isn't enough. Plus you will be able to lower the car more then just 1" or so. The front turns, so its more difficult to get a wide tire under there without fender modification and risk the fender. +65 9"/245/35/18 is pushing it and a 225/40 is really the safe bet. But as far as wide staggered fitments this is a match in overall diameter and not a bad upgrade for not rolling fenders. If you did the proper fender modifications you could run up to a 255/295 stagger on the stock body and run a 2" lower then stock ride height.

Peoples definition of meaty vary, like warm or cool. Lots of people think meaty is 245s all around, and then there are people like S2000Junky that define meaty as 285 to 310! What is the SIZE you want to run and people can help you get there.

thanks for all the good advice here, and yes the tire thickness is subjective, which makes sense.

Based on all the information here and everything else i've been reading, I will have to roll my fenders.

Just to give an idea of the setup i'm after based on everything i've read so far. Would be something in the line of 17x9/10 with +45 offset. With R:255/40 and F:255 or 235/45.
I will not be slamming the car in anyway, it will be lowered to have a few fingers gaps.

To be honest i'm very confused myself. There are so many setups I've seen that I can't keep track. I would love to keep a staggered setup, but it seems that a square setup looks good and is functional.
