Default Need some new rear tires

Well my rear tires are toast and I cannot decide on which tire to buy, stay with OEM until fronts wear out or go to the RE01R' s. What would the effects on handling be with the RE01R's on the rear, or buy all 4 and sell my OEM fronts which have a ton of tread left.

I'd get RE050A Pole Positions for the rear. Should be closer to RE01R grip than the OEM RE050's, and should give greater hydroplaning-resistance.

i just replaced my oem tires,..i went to the re01-R's up one size front and rear, my fronts were fine but i just read about adverse handling effects of two different compound tires front and rear,.......the re01-R's are much more sticky than the oems.

id go with the RE-01R's they are extremely grippy, i just drive really slow in the rain and enjoy them when its dry.

I love my 225/255 RE01r setup compared to the oem sized re050s. I thought they would be a bit wary in the wet, but I was dead wrong. I have never hydroplaned with them and still have a solid amount of grip in the wet (even did an autox in the wet), and they feel much more planted than the re050s in the rain.

No doubt the RE01R is a good wet tire. But it will be more susceptible to hydroplaning, particularly the last 1/2 of its life, than the RE050A Pole Position.
RE01R

RE050A Pole Position

One of these tires will clearly do a better job of channeling water. Also note that the RE01R gets an "A" wet-traction rating, and the 050A PP gets "AA".

To tell the truth, I wouldn't have qualms about running either. But for primarily street use including heavy rain, I'd get the RE050A PP's. For autoX or competitive lapping, I'd get RE01R's (if I *had* to do so on street tires!).

Well I guess I should clear one thing up I don't care about hydroplaning resistance as I never drive this car in the rain. Dry weather only.

Yeah I'm not to sure about mixing an matching either generally not a good idea so looks like maybe I'll do the RE01R's and sell my front RE050's.
