Hey Jim. I'm in the market for a a complete set (4) of the Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star specs. I'm wondering if there are any special deals going on, specifically for people on S2ki.

Thanks.

okay

so, I put the Star Specs in the back this weekend (in a 225, obviously)
the front is still shod with the worn S02s

the car feels VERY SCREWED UP at highway speeds; it feels like it is about to spin the hell out... this is probably because the tires are mismatched and one set is new and one set is pretty old. it feels like I am driving a 15 yr old Camry with BBBBAAAADDDD allignment. it kinda feels like I am going 130, when I am going 75.

I have driven this thing for 6 years, and something ain't right
i tried to do a 180, and it UNDERSTEERED - probably because the rears grip harder than the fronts now... still... I have NEVER understeered in this car before... EVER!!!

what is going on here???

is it that the tires are REALLY mismatched?
worn S02 fronts with new (40 miles on them) StartSpec rears

were the 225 rear S02s wider than the 225 rear StarSpecs?

do I need allignment?

will putting the front StarSpecs on fix this?

will this go away once the tires are broken in?

I wanted to see how mismatched tires feel together, and I do NOT like this. the bald S02 rears felt better. the car felt PLANTED / ROCK-solid.
now it feels jumpy at highways speeds!!!

anyone know what I am talking about? I feel like I am a 1/4 second away from a collosal spin, and that's while going straight!

You should NOT mismatch tires. Order up some StarSpecs for the front and all will be fine.

yeah, that was my gut feeling

I have an EXTREME mismatch too

I have amismatch on my F4i, and it is okay; i would think that bikes would be even more sensitive... maybe its the other way around

or maybe some tires can be matched?

I have the Falken FK 452's right now and they've been an excellent tire. I had them on my AP1 a while back as well. I got 9k miles out of the rears and I'm currently at 15k miles on the fronts. I need to see if DiscountTire covers swapping tires across wheels under their "Free Balance & Rotation" plan.

I was planning on getting the Dunlop Direzza Z1 Star Specs for my next set of 4 tires but I was wondering how fast do they wear compared to other tires. How many miles has everyone gotten out of them? My Falkens are UTQG rated 300 and the Dunlops are UTQG rated 200.

@Dimak: If you really know your car & tire setups, you can mix-n-match tires. Otherwise, it's best just to stick with 4 matching tires. Luckily by the end of my tires I will have gone through 2 sets of rears and 1 set of fronts so I can purchase 4 new ones.

I'm definitely watching this post and hoping something else is going on besides just the difference in treadz. Mainly because I'm getting ready to throw a new set of Dunlop Stars on the front, keeping my almost new SO2s on the rear.

Did you make sure the pressures were correct and identical? Balanced?(I would question this first if a shop did it). I would at least have it put on an alignment machine, just to see if it is out.

Patiently waiting to see the outcome of this.

i have not done allignment ever - the car has 60k on it; it felt FINE on the S02s... FINE!!!! this is my issue

i will check PSIs; i'll verify that it's 32 all around

the shop said to hold off on allignment until i have new tires in the front too
the tires WERE balanced

I am NOT enjying my car right now :-(

take my observations with a grain of salt; i bitch about EVERY LITTLE ISSUE

some of this comes from riding a supersport; u MUST sense every minute detail, or it will be too late

i have ordered the fronts, and will replace the balding S02s ASAP
