Default negatives of using oversize tires

this in on an acura tl

assuming the tire properly meets all specs for the wheel/car, what would be the negative effects of using a tire that is 2cm wider than the factory tire? (225 vs 205)

i have wider tires now and love everything about them, though i like to stay all factory.

understand that im asking only about the effects of the wider contact patch, nothing else. possibly putting a bigger load on the suspension, steering?

thanks!

2 cm won't do much either way. I'm assuming you put these on the same wheels that the 205's were on? If so, you have only widened the tread while forcing the bead width to remain the same. You might need to reduce inflation pressures slightly so you don't have faster wear in the middle of the tread. I'm guessing a couple of psi should do it but "read" your tire tread after a few thousand km to be sure.
