Default New tire problem

Alright I purchased 4 tires from Tire Rack last week Sumitomo HTR Z III. Had them mounted and balanced at a local tire shop here. After approximately 50 miles into a trip the two rear tires had problems one burst and the other the side wall bubbled in 4 different spots. I contacted the shop that put them on, they assured me that when the tires leave their shop that there is the correct air pressure, no leaks, valve stems alright, basically the tire/wheel combo is safe to drive on. I haven't contacted Tire Rack yet, but plan on doing that today. I have a feeling that the tire shop either didn't have the correct air pressure in those two, or they weren't seated on the bead correctly and they leaked down during the trip. I want to know if anyone has had a problem similar to this and what they did to resolve it, or if basically I'm out two brand new tires.

Don't tirerack offer tire warranty that you can purchase seperately?

We do offer the road hazzard protection for the tires. The tire mfg. do not cover blow outs normally. I sent your email to customer service to take a look.
Let me know how it turns out.

Thanks, I've already received a response from a representative there. Hopefully this turns out better than i think it will.

This is a little scary. I'm having 4 Sumitomo HTR Z IIIs installed tomorrow, and I did not purchase Tire Rack's road hazard protection either.

I'd contact Sumitomo and ask to have the tires inspected. Sumitomo should be able to determine whether the problem was in the manufacture or the installation.

That doesn't make any sense. Bubbling is age related or lousy manufacturing. I've mounted many tires and they never once blew out. Sumis are fine quality and since they were new, it was a bad batch or somebody dumped solvent on the inside.

I have the same sumi's all around and went through 2 sets in the back. No problems here. I am very happy with them. Good luck to the OP. I am glad that no one got hurt.
