Default new tires and now having issues

hmm not sure where to start so i guess i'll just begin with the issue at hand. last week i dropped my 01 off to discount tire for a pair of new tires. i hate, HATE, going to discount but i really dont have any other options around here so i was stuck with them. well new tires went on and everything seemed fine until i hit the highway. anything above 55mph and the car definitely has a pull to the right when i'm off the gas (decelrating) and a pull to the left (or maybe just a correction back to square) when i accelerate again. i think the pull to the left may just be a result of correcting the pull to the right, in other words under load the car actually is neutral but due to a slight left steering correction to compensate for the pull to the right when off the throttle the car will veer left. i hope that makes sense? i've been sitting here trying to figure out what could be the cause of this as the car was very neutral before switching out tires.

now on to the tires and my idiotic ordeal with those which may or may not shed some light on my trouble. my car came rolling on 18's with 225/40/28's up front and 265/35/18's on the rear. the fronts were still quite good but the rears were gone so they were what i replaced. well when i ordered the new tires i somehow was thinking that the front had 245/40/18's instead of the actual 225's (this no doubt was probably because my last vehicle had 245's and my mind reverted back, ugh) so i ordered 225's thinking i'd move the front 245's (really 225's) to the back. needless to say i now have 225/40/18's all around.

so back to my above problem...could having 225's at all four corners cause this? could the car just need re-aligned (boy it doesnt feel like an alignment issue though)? could one of my new tires (Nitto 555's) be bad? how bout a brake ever so slightly hanging up?

i'm open to all suggestions and many apologies for taking so long!

the pull may be from the tires being mounted wrong, either unbalanced, or a pull could be from being mounted backwards. With 225's all around, the car may wander a bit, but the pull may be from something else. Also make sure they did not put your rear rim on the front on one side not realizing they are different width rims!

Not only are they different widths, but they will not properly seat either. You will run down the road and potentially do some not-so-good damage.

the rims are all still on the correct corners. the front left had a scuff and its still there, the front right, well i'd like to think i'd notice the offset difference not to mention it sits the same as the driver's side which i know to be correct. the tires are mounted in the correct rotational direction as well. any other thoughts?

Oh man, I am having the same problem since I put on new tires three weeks ago. Yokohama AVS ES100's 225-50-16 on the front and 245-45-16 on the rears.

The car pulls to the left when accelerating and to the right when I let off the gas. It's very slight, but enough to be annoying. It never did it with the old tires. It cant be the wrong wheels sizes because I took the wheels in on two seperate trips, I took the fronts first and had the tires mounted, then came home and took the rears to the tire shop. There is no vibration so I dont think its a ballancing issue.

I was going to try an allignment but I am getting 17's and new tires this week so I am going to mount those and see if the problem persists. I'll let you know if it remains when I swap wheels next week.

Check your tire pressures. A difference in pressure left/right will cause the behavior you are describing.

I knew there was a reason I visit this board that should have been the first thing I checked and I didnt even think about it.

Going to check at lunch time.
