Default New wheel and tire recommendations request

I just purchased an s2000 '03. My god is it fun. I plan to race in SCCA events where there are a lot of corners and such. I intend on learning to drift, but I don't want to use my current wheels/tire combo cause I'll just eat the tread up I'm sure. What I'd like to get is a set of wheel/tire combo that has comparable acceleration to the stock wheel/tires (so no change in wheel size or tire width, though I know nothing about any of this really so it

ES100's are ok, nothing spectacular in the traction area. Which may be a benefit if you just plan to use them for drifting. You may want to just buy a set of s2k wheels off ebay or something. You won't find cheap light weight wheels for the s2k. You can find cheap heavy wheels, but not light. You might want to try Work Wheels. Their usually light and strong, but low on style. But if your using them for racing/drifting style would be the last thing you should be worrying about. Speed is more important than style on the track.

ES100 and the Kumho's might be ok for drifting, but they don't have the traction for a serious track event. I don't know about the kumho's but the ES100's wear just as fast as S02's in the rear. With drifting your not going to get much life out of any tire on the s2000. I think your going to find that drifting the s2000 is very expensive for tires.

You would want to set your car up totally different for racing and drifting. Go to a good school and get some seat time. That will help more than expensive parts.
The ASA is a nice looking wheel that is fairly inexpensive and the ES100 would handle better than the Ecsta 712.
If I can help with the tires and wheels let me know.

Oh Im sure i'll be purchasing them from Tirerack in the near future. The real reason I want to buy a different set is that I want to be able to get a feel for a set of wheels/tires while racing vs just driving where I am not doing much. I don't mind going through tires, I just want to have a sacaficial set along with reproducable feeling while drifting/racing.
