Default New wheels and issues

This has prolly been asked loads of times by various people! Have just gone from the standard 17" rims that UK S2000's come with. Got myself some nice looking Inovit 18" wheels using Falken tyres 215*45*87. I plan to put on Bridgestones when those are dead!

My handling felt alot poorer afterwards and adjusted psi to 30 front and 33 back seems a bit better. However the car steers to the left and shakes at 80mph plus. I guess this is tracking and alignment problems? Anyone had any experiences!!!???

Cheers -=[Muzz]=-

im guessing its the 215s in the back not giving you enough stability.

If you have the 215/40R18 all the way around I would say that is the problem. You would be better off staggering your tires even if the wheels are the same size. Depending on the wheel width you could run 215/40R18 and 245/35R18 rear.

Well I've done alot of heavy driving this week and changed the pressures to 30psi front and 32psi back which has really helped. So I will see what they are like worn in a bit more. I do drive with traction control off. What would you recommend putting on rear ones tire wise then?

If the car is shaking at 80 mph+, then your wheels may not be balanced. Either take them to a shop to get them balanced or get new tires and they will balance them. This will stop the vibration.

Sounds like a bad tire, perhaps. You might try swapping the front tires and see if it then wants to steer to the RIGHT. If so, you know the tire on the side of the direction the car wants to turn in is NFG.

Hi Jim,

wondering if you would assist me with some wheel fitment issues too?

Here is what I'm planning to do:
1) will roll fenders to the max, no flare though.
2) want to with 18" & as wide as possible
3) to stagger or not?
4) if stagger, BBK will fit?
5) what's the widest size tires I can use? both front and back

someone suggested to go with: 18 x9 +49 all around - that would fit under the above criteria. are they correct??

I appreciate your help.

thx

Spot on Jim 245s on the back with the 215s on the front! Handling better than with the stock setup in my opinion.

Hello speedstar88,

I would not run the same size all the way around unless you are going to modify the suspension. I would say go with a 225/40R18 front and maybe a 265/35R18 on the rear. This is going to give you more tire front and rear but the car is still going to handle. I really don't think the S2K can use more than the 265 on the rear. The horsepower is just not there to warrant using more tire.
If I can help let me know.
