Default Nitto NT05 opinions please

So I am going to be doing non staggered 255/17. I will be doing track days when I can and want a tire that will still get decent tread life on the street. The sumitomo htrz3 are great on the street but get very greasy after only 3-4 laps at the track. Tread life is pretty decent on them too. However for my new non staggered RPF1's I am wanting to pick up a set of NT05's what are your guys experiences on and off track with them? How many miles have you seen from them? How much camber do they like at what cold/hot tire pressure would you recommend? Thanks!

In for this too. Will probably replace my current RS3's with them.

The RS# is a great tire but I read somewhere they will wear way more fast than the nt05 and they also don't wear evenly. Not sure if that's true. Hopefully we can get some answers. I have never bought a Nittoa Product that didn't work as advertised

I have Nt05 on right now, 235/40/17 and I love them! They arent wearing to fast at all and they have excellent grip! They are a little noisy at freeway speeds but that should honestly be expected from such a high range performance tire, I'm thinking around 15-20k miles if I'm rotating them ok and I have mild camber to... I cant say for the track as I haven't taken them yet but I'd imagine it'll chew them down pretty fast, I'm running around -3 camber rear. Hope that helps a bit!

Camber pretty much ate my rs3's. I'm going to flip them on the wheels as the outer edges aren't worn as much as the inners. I love my rs3's but I get a killer deal on Nitto through my dealership so I may try them.

Ive been running a 255 x4 NT-05 setup for about a year now and to be honest, I will not buy them again. They look tall for a 255 (which looks awkward on the front) and are much more narrow than a RS-3 or star spec in the same size. I have tracked with them and I dont find the overall grip to be that great but they are consistant lap after lap, no getting greasy and some up to temp quickly. But my biggest complaint is that the sidewall is HARD as a rock. If I do have one positive thing to say it's that they are wearing very well and are OK in the rain, but they do lose grip suddenly with no warning. I have about 15k miles on them with heavy street and track driving.

Great info. Not to worried about the looks of the tire. And yeah Nitto are known to be more narrow than most other tires. I wouldn't mind the stiff sidewall as I like the quicker turn in it gives. Thanks for the help! Anyone else?

I have 255 NT05's in the rear (Bridgestones up front) bought the wheels with them.. I love them, In the rain surprisingly they do pretty well. On the street they are awesome, at least in 45+ degrees. I wouldn't know about the track yet as I haven't tracked my car yet... Maybe someone can shed some more light on this for you in that respect.

Everyone seems to swear by Dunlop Star Spec's so I thought I would try them out. If I don't like them I'll definately go back to The Nitto's though.

Yeah I like the SS too but hear they also wear very fast if highway driving (wich I do) and they are too expensive. Damn the tire rack exclusive!

Yeah, I kinda assumed that was the case. Then again though, my commute is 11 miles each way and they will outlast the RS3's so it was a better choice for me anyway.

The NT05's have the same treadwear though so you may be in the same boat with either tire. They are both 200 treadwear.
