Non-matched tires in the rain.
I got caught out in the rain with my slick rear S02's and the car became very twitchy. I've read enough on this forum to anticipate this and slow down as it started to sprinkle. The instability has opened my eyes to my need of new rear tires, though.
Does anyone have any experience running S02's in the front and S03's in the rear in heavy rain?
I realize that a non-matching setup is not ideal, but my research leads me to believe that the S02/S03 combination would be safer than other combinations and I can't bring myself to throw away a good set of front S02's. I rarely push the car, just cruise my straight, smooth freeway jot to work every day.
Any help is much appreciated.

What research is this?Your safer running a new set of S02's to match your fronts. The new set of rears will burn off about the same time your fronts will need to be changed.
Then switch to all 4 S03's.
Or switch to S03's all around..

i am currently using michelins on my front of my M3 and S03's on my rear and have been caught in my major downpours in south florida. and let me tell you its not fun. the car wants to go all over the road. you have to understand everytire is designed with a certain tread pattern. meaning when the front tires cut through the water they leave a certain groove in the water for the rear tires to follow. when your front tires don't match the rear the rears are always creating another groove, which in turns make the car unstable because its like the tires are trying to take two different lines in a sence. when i ran all S03's on my S2000 i could easily do 100mph plus in the rain(although i don't recomend it) but now in my M3 which was a lot more stable car then the S2000 could ever be, now with the mixed tires i feel like i am driving a bingo in the rain. i don't like it. stick to all 4 of the same tires. this was my first time mixing and let me tell you i will never make that mistake again

I have driven with the S02/S03 (245) combo in question and the car had equal dry grip and good wet grip until nearly bald.
