Default Offset problem!

Hi everyone,

Yet another problem!

I have Volk TE-37 17" wheels on my S2000 with the following specs:
17 x 7.5 +48
17 x 8.5 +50

I have just fitted new Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric tires to them. (stock sizes)
These tires replaced Toyo Proxes T1-R, and they are visibly MUCH wider than the toyos.

Now, this week I plan to lower the car using Tein springs.
Upon fitting the wheels with the new tires, I was looking at the mounted wheels on the car, to see if i would need spacers on the rear to achieve a "flush" look ... and to my surprise (i had never noticed this before on the narrower toyo tires), it seems like the offset on these volks is quite aggressive imo ...

some pics ..

Will I have problems with scrubbing when i lower it?
I had already searched the forum before deciding to lower it, and it seems that my wheels specs are correct on paper .. but in reality, it looks like I definitely need to roll the fenders at least ... and I doubt that would solve the whole problem??

Mmmm, TE37's are sexy. Those tires stick out as much as some 255's on a 9. What are your current alignment specs?

haha, i like your comment

another pic as a treat

i dont have a printout of my last alignment, but the settings should be more or less OEM.

Its strange how much they stick out, isnt it?
To be honest, it kind of looks ugly IMO

can a different alignment help me in this case? I dont wish to have a shedload of negative camber :/

If you are gonna lower the car, all you need is allignment. Your wheels specs won't rub at all.

Mmmm mmmm, Very nice!!! It looks "ugly" to you cause of the wheel gap. Once you lower it, it will look much more appealing to the eye. I would roll the fenders and relocate and cut the rear tab so you could run very close to stock alignment specs.

^^ This.

Once you lower the car a bit those wheels are going to really look great on there. It's just the huge wheel gap that's making it look a little funny right now.

hmmm thanks for your replies. I -REALLY- hope that i won't be disappointed when i lower it.i am worrying because i made a simple test today. i got a long ruler and held it vertical on the ground .. touching the tire sidewall, both on the bottom, and on the top.. and it wasnt even touching the fender for around 3mm. so, the outside edge of the tire sidewall is around 3mm stuck out of the outermost part of the fender. surely it will hit it upon suspension compression? i just dont know... i will lower it, then i will see what will happen ... worst case scenario, i roll the fenders and add negative camber .. !i promise one thing .... more pics will follow thanks again!

Don't forget that as the wheel moves up it's pivoting so the the top of the tire is tucking in as it moves. Sticking a ruler or stick against your tire while it's just sitting there really doesn't tell you much.

Those aren't very aggressive... I had a very similar setup in back with 18x9 +55 and 255s.

I had -2.5 degrees of camber and no rubbing with about a 2" drop.

Hmm .. everyone seems to be agreeing, so it looks like i am being paranoid as usual.

I will update the thread when my car "gets low" ... which, hopefully will be by tomorrow. Cant wait !!!
