I experienced some vibration issues at freeway speeds. I suspected bent wheels and I was correct. I mounted the old tires on a new set of wheels, and was unpleasantly suprised by continuing vibration. I had the wheel + tire combo rebalanced, but the vibration persisted. As an experiment, I mounted my winter tires onto the new wheels. The vibration went away.

My question is can a bent wheel cause a tire to go out of round? If so, can the tire regain its roundness once mounted onto a good wheel?
