painting ap1 wheels black
Spend a whole lot of time prepping them. start by sanding down all the clear with some 400 grid. (this is the most important part to the paint sticking) after sanding your wheel and all the crevises clean them with dish soap or use a duplicolor prepwipe, or anything with rubbing alcohol.
get some good black primer and do a few light coats. for the main coat I used duplicolor high temp black paint. header paint will work great to. I found these two kind of paints held up against rock chips and things of that nature. PM me if you have any questions or anything. I have done this many times due to trial and error.
