Default Perfect specs for 18 on the S2000

If I was wanting to run S-02s in 225/40/18 front and 265/35/18 rear; what would be the correct rim widths and offsets for a car that has beem lowered 1"? The tires have to stick out further than the wheels do. Nice to have a little protection for the wheel lips.

I would say, if you don't want to rub through the whole suspension travel (turning or going straight), you would need at least:
18x8.0 +56 or higher
18x9.0 +64 or higher

This if from my own experience with my setup lowered. But it all depends on the cars construction (cuz not all cars are created equal), tires used, wheel manufacture, weight on the car, wheel alignment, etc.
Good luck!

If you want the over hang tire effect you'll be happier w/ 18x7.5's up front (although 18x8's are the "correct" rim widths for the 225/40's).

My best guess at an optimum set up for 225/265 using 7.5's up front is:
18x7.5 ET55
18x9 ET65

you could go down on offsets and still not rub (even lowered) with:
18x7.5 ET52
18x9 ET60

However, the ultimate set-up ("perfect specs") IMHO:
18x8 ET55 w/ 225/40-18
18x10 ET77 w/ 285/30-18
(no, that's not what I'm running, wish it was )

That's not too much difference in tire size? Also I was running 285 in the rear on HRE wheels and the car had no room for lowering. The inside wheel to fender clearence was to tight.

I'm running 18x10.5's with the car lowered 1.25" at the rear and no rubbing. A 10" wheel at the same offset would give easy clearance (since I already clear @ 10.5") and provide some rim edge protection.
I don't think that's too much tire in the rear based on the stock rear bias (percentage wise). My rear end will still step out on call (see S2000Porn Vol 1 for plenty-o-examples )

I decided on these specs w/ a 1" drop amd stock alignment-
18x8 +54, 225/40/18- tire sectional width 9.1"
18x9.5 +73, 265/35/18- tire sectional width 11.1"

So difficult to find correct fitting wheels!
Damn our cars for using such high offsets!
