Default Possibly a dumb question?

After countless hours of research about tires, I am 99.9% sure that I will replace my wearing OEM REO50's with the Bridgestone REO1r's. It is a completely stock 2006 S with stock 17in wheels. My question is, are there any pro's or con's with running 255/40/r17's in rear rather than OEM 245/40/r17's. I'll keep the fronts at 215/45/r17. I think this was answered a while back, but I don't remember. I've had a couple of people tell me to stay with the original size, but these are not exactly persons who know a lot about tires. I would like to run the 255's if there are no negatives about doing so. Any help would be great. Thank-you......S2kGigolo.

Why not run 225 in the front, if you are going to run 255 in the rear?

Concerns over tread width?

The 215 in the front and 255 in the rear will give you a closer match to the stagger that came on the car stock. Both sizes will work fine.
If I can help let me know.

Thank you all very much for your input. I can always use all the help I can get. I can see that I have some more decisions to make before getting new tires. I've still got a few good gripping miles left on these, that's why I'm trying to figure all this out now, so when it's time to buy new tires I will know what the heck I'm doing (maybe). Again, thank you for all the information......S2kGigolo.

215/255 or 225/255 will both work fine. Those a really good tires, so are the RE050A Pole Position in the same sizes. Keep an eye out for sales and rebates.
