I just installed a set of Potenza RE-11's on my 07. I went with 215/45R 17 in front and 255/40R 17 in back. The grip seems good, but the steering seems just a little number than before with the stock tires. has anyone else tried these tires and noticed this? Any recommendations for the next set?

 

Possibly because they are brand new tires. You sorta lose some responsiveness when switching to a tire with full tread, from a tire that is worn a bit.

What tires did you have before and how many miles were on them?

 

They need 200 miles break in.

 

New tires will have a slippery/ greasy feel till they are scrubbed from use, the slipperiness is due to the use of mold release during the making of the tires.

 

I noticed this as well. I wish I would have gone with 225 up front instead of the 215. I think the extra front grip would help lessen the floaty/numb feeling. That's my theory at least. I will probably go with 235/255 stagger the next time I buy tires.
