Default Potenzas are gone

I have an 04 S2k with just about 14k miles. Today i replaced my potenzas(sp?) with a set of kumho tires due to lack of tread left. I was just wondering if 14k miles sounds about right for the life of these tires. I'm new to rear wheel drive vehicles and sportscar ownership, so I'm not real sure how long they should last. I don't run my car hard at all, no racing or track driving, however i do take corners at about 25mph. Could that be the reason? I also noticed that the front tires had less tread left than the rears. That didn't seem like normal tire wear. The tire shop said that i should have at least gotten around 30k miles before the tires needed to be changed. Is that accurate? I know I probably sound like an idiot for asking, but I would really appreciate any help. Thanx

On a performance car (RWD) the front tires should last about twice as long as the rears. 14K miles sounds about right for the rears with fairly spirited driving. I've got 6K on mine with plenty of tread left.

It seems like you may have had alignment or inflation problems with your front tires.

If you have not had an alignment, you should do so ASAP so you don't chew up your new tires.

Keep an eye on your tire pressure.

You got way more miles out of yours than I did. My rears are almost bald and I'm only at 9K. Fronts still have plenty of life.

...That doesn't seem right. Your fronts should last longer than your rears. However, I highly doubt that you would get anywhere near 30K with the stock Bridgestones. You should have your alignment checked.

My car is about 9000 miles, my rears have about 4/32" tread depth, my fronts have about 7/32" tread depth. It looks like I will need two rear tires in about 3000-4000 miles. The front tires will last another 15k miles easy. S2000 eats rear tires much faster pace than fronts.

The "tire shop" don't know what they're talking about.

FWIW, my front RE050's needed replacing BEFORE my rears - but that's only because I autoxed with them all last summer...

I've got 18k on mine and I would say the fronts probably have another 10k left in them and the rears, maybe 5k, but that would be pushing it. My rears are significantly more worn than the fronts. I don't make it a habit of spinning the rear tires and/or hard cornering, so I'd consider my driving "normal" aside from two autocrosses.

12 K on my rears and they are almost gone, fronts are about the same but were 225/55-16 's that were on the rear. Orginal fronts lasted 25 K but were down to the cords.
