Question for Wheel gurus
Hey guys, I just wanted to know if it was possible to run non staggered rims on the s2000 but with "staggered" tires?
Rims are 17 x 7.5
Fronts are 225/40/17
Rears are 235/45/17
Thanks in advance for any help!

Well, the racing and competition forum might have some debates on staggered/non staggered fitments and the pros and cons of both.
However, a lot of people run say 17 x 7.5 in the front, and 17 x 9 in the rear. Thats a typical staggered setup. Now if they were going to run non staggered they use the wider (rear) wheel on the front, so its 17 x 9 all around. They might stagger tires, might not. But the basis for that is now you have more grip in the front which = less relative grip in the rear. i.e. the rear will swing out before the fronts lose traction.
You are running 7.5 width in the front and rear....it all depends on how you will be driving the car but realize that people running 245 or 255 tires all the way around will have more grip than you at 225 or 235..
So in a way....yes non staggered will be more susceptible to oversteer, as the wider rear is to keep it better planted

Thanks again nate, this is quite a tough choice. I got a decent deal on a set of rims with tires that were stated, choices....*sigh
Its basically 400 for a old set of racing harts w/ tires with good tread left and my tires need replacing.
What would you do? thanks Nate!!!!!

Personally i think you will not notice a difference unless you have a lot of wheel time in 'near the limit' driving.
Just understand the change you are making and dont take the first corner from the tire shop at 90 and you'll be alright.
Dont think of it as bad, just different. If you drive spiritedly, ease into it and never assume your car will respond the way it did before (regardless of sizes)
I'm slightly considering getting a wheel/tire package thats not exactly what I want just because its a great deal as well...

lol wow Nate, you are one quick responder. I really appreciate your input and perhaps I should pick it up while the deal is still available.
Thanks again!
Only if there was some way to plus rep to you or something

You can certainly run staggered tires on same size wheels. The problem in this case is the width. 7.5" is really narrow for the rear. The tire sizes aren't ideal either since the rear diameter is much larger than the front. If you get the wheels, I'd switch out the tires for OEM AP2 sizes - 215/45, 245/40. A 245 is pushing the limit on a 7.5" wheel, but it will work.
