quick question
I just bought an used s2000 02 MY.
The man (or lady) who owned it before me put a set of Kumho Escta Supras on the car; ( 4 tires all sized 255/35/18).
I know a brand new S2000 comes with smaller tires in the front, as opposed to the rear.
On all four of these tires are a set of SSR gt3 rims. But here's the kicker
on the front 2 tires, the rims are sized 18/8.0 . ..and the rims on the rear tires are 18/9.5. It looks good, and of course I can barely tell that the rims are different sizes. But, is there a reason as to why the person might have done this? Will this affect my cars handling in a negative way? I was thinknig that a different sized rim should be put on...only if the tire size is different as well.
Also, being that all for tires sizes are identical, when I decide to rotate my car's tires...should I keep the 18/9.5 rims on the back tires?

Sounds like you just need to get the right size tires on the front and you'll be good to go. The rims are appropriately wider in the rear, so don't change that unless you're getting rubbing or something.
You should have something like a 225 wide tire on the front for proper handling balance on the S2000. The setup you have now is prone to oversteer, which can surprise a driver that's not prepared for it. Don't rotate the wide rear wheels onto the front. Always keep the wide wheels on the rear, and when you have the opportunity (or sooner) change the front tires to something of the proper width.

Can a 255 tire even be put on an 8" wheel??
Are you sure you didn't misread 255 for 225 (2 is kind of a backwards 5)?
Can't tell from your pics, but 255 front should rub big time.
