Default Quick tire question.

I have read through a few posts and just need some clarification.

I currently have 245/40/17 Dunlop Direzza Star Specs on the rear. This is mounted on a stock 05' rim.

Questions:

1. Am i good to put a 255/40/17 on the same rim? Is it wise to go to 255, instead of 245.. Is it safe to go bigger... 265?

2. Should i stick with the Dunlop tire, or is switch to a ps2 a better choice.

Answers are appreciated thank you.

255 will give you more grip on the rear. There is a small dif in speedo reading between 245 and 255 - 265 will be a larger dif.

You do not HAVE to stay with the same brand as the front, but you DO want to stay with the same performance rating.
You do not want to have High Performance Summer rubber up front and a 60,000 mile all season on the back - that is a bad idea.

I hope this helps some.
