Default Race tires

Looking at race tires for my factory staggered wheels. Tire rack has one option. Anyone know of any other matching staggered race tire sets?

What type of racing are you going to be doing? If it's just HPDE or a track day, I would suggest extreme performance summer tires. No need for slicks.

After looking, I'm assuming he means Toyo Proxes R888. That's the only "Racetrack & Autocross Only" option that comes up on Tire Rack when looking at matching pairs in stock sizes.

Nitto NT01's are good tires I'd think for an experienced track junky, an alternative to the R888's. Otherwise I'm with Fokker on the extreme performance tires being a better overall choice, especially if you plan on doing a fair amount of street driving with this setup.

A local member tracks with the NT01's, and runs with cars like the GTR's, various 911's, purpose built race cars. And other than the purpose built race cars, seems to keep up pretty well with the faster cars by making up for time around the corners.

I HPDE and have found the limit on my ZIIs. I want to look into getting something stickier. Thanks for the replies.

The Ecsta XS, proxes R1R, Neova AD08R, and R888 have a AA A traction grade whereas the other extreme summer tire have only an AA. How good is this at determining the grip tires will have?

The Nitto NT01 I can get 245/45 and 215/45 - meaning the rears would have a bit larger contact patch than my current factory size. But they are rated as AA.

I've had both the Ecsta XS's and NT01s and I can assure you the NT01s have better grip.

IMO it tells you crap about handling... it is a straight line wet traction rating.

Talk to people that run on the tracks you use and the events you run. Although it has been a while since I was tracking the car I found R-comp tires were the way to go if you drive to the track, but race slicks better if you have a support vehicle. You are right, extreme performance street tires are just a good way to leave expensive rubber on the ground if you run many hot laps...

So the R888 of your choices.
