Just put RE01'R's on the front and the rears seems very loose, any input on this?

 

well if u only put the new tires on the front then,....yes its not gonna feel normal. u need the same compound all the way around

 

What tires do you have out back? This isn't surprising at all. More grip up front and less grip in the rear.

 

Change all 4 tires at the same time, especially if they're different model tires. Also did you choose the right sizes? The RE-01R's are among the stickiest street tires out there, if you have some crap all seasons on the back it will feel VERY loose.

 

Anyone went to a RE01 on the rear only and kept the fronts RE050?

 

Just curious, but why do people run different tires in the front/rear?

Only 2 reasons I can think of.

 

I got my RE0-1Rs in May. Great tires, my fronts were shot, but the rears
still had 8 to 10k miles on em. I changed all 4 tires. Mixing tires is a no no.

 

the 01rs are almost the best street tire you can buy. if you put those in front and have something less grippy in the rear.. well.. think about it. your turn in will be super and then the rear tires cant keep up, so it'll be "loose" as you said

 

On the upside, you will look like a ricer drifting through those turns, spewing great gobs of smoke throughout the neighborhood!
