Default Rear tread life

I purchased some eagle gt all season tires for my s2000 last year. I put about 10-12k miles on them and the rears are almost out of tread. The front ones still seem brand new, but the rears are a different story. I don't ever launch my car or do any burn outs.

I've read that the rears don't last long on our cars, but all the tires seem to be summer tires.

Is this still normal for all season tires?

I got an alignment right around the same time as putting these tires on.

That is normal wear, nothing to worry about!

However, if they wore unevenly and you used stock alignment specs last time then get a new alignment when you get your new tires mounted.

Even with a normal alignment you will replace the rears multiple times before the fronts need switched out.

ok, thanks.

Yea, the passenger rear wore slightly more than the driver's side. This normal too?

I checked my alignment specs from last time, they both seem pretty good (us spec).

i got 11k on hankook rs2 which i think is a max performance summer tire? something like that. but that was about 70% highway driving. then my next set was 20% highway driving, which only lasted 7k miles. all this is without any track or launching.

So it also depends what kind of miles (highway/city) as well as how aggressive obviously.

I have almost 19k on my stock RE050s. Fronts have probably half tread life left, and the rears are almost done.

gotcha........i'd say i'm about 55/45 city/highway driving.

I just don't understand why all season tires would be comparible to summer tires in tread life.

Seems a bit fast to me. I'm running RE-11s, 245/40/17 all around, and I've gone from 9/32" tread depth to 6/32" thread depth in about 8k miles including a track day. At this rate, I'll get well over 20k miles including a few more track days.

Less toe in on the rear will also get you longer tread life.
