Rear wheel spacer question

Default Rear wheel spacer question

I would like a little more agressive stance to my rear wheels, I am wondering if there is any adverse effects on installing a 3 or 5 mm spacers in the rear. I know it will widen the wheel base some, and may be somewhat prone to rubbing if going over big bumps, not to sure though (my rear wheels are 17x9 65mm offset)

You have to be sure your studs are long enough that you can engage at least one diameter's worth of threads with the lug nuts. For us, that's 12 mm. If you can't, you should get longer studs installed.

The second problem is that if you install spacers too thick, the wheel won't be able to center itself on the hub. This could cause vibration at speed. I don't know how big the flange on the hub is, so I can't answer that one.

Whether you will rub or not is hard to tell. What tires are you using?

Even if it doesn't rub, I can't imagine 3 or 5mm spacers are going to be enough to make much of a noticeable visual difference. You're talking about bumping the wheel out 1/8" (3mm) or about 1/5" (5mm).

Im using 255/40/17's in the rear.
