I had planned on media blasting the wheels to prep them for paint but my buddy Mike recommended using a product called aircraft stripper to dissolve the plastic like clear coating that is on the face of the rim. He said the media would have a hard time getting through it on its own. Here you can see that product starting to work after only 10 min. It’s winter here in FL so it’s about 60 degrees out in the picture. You can see the spidering that is happening under the coating. From far the wheels didn’t look bad but they can certainly be better More detail Product is pretty effective First time using it but so far I’d recommend it.
Spent another hr at the shop today, wheels are stripped down, I’ll sand them today and get them ready for paint. It’s raining today so I probably won’t get any color on them Still wet from the rain but they came out pretty good I kind of like the raw finish. Too bad they would look like crap after a few drives
Got them all mounted up with the help of my girls. I think they look great, better than the ap2 wheels. I’m going to go take them to my skid pad and get a feel for them.
