Default Replacement Tires

Has anyone had any experience, positive or negative with the Goodyear F1-GS-D3 tire? I havde a 2004 S2000 and the Bridgestone RE050's that were stock only gave me 18,000 miles on the rears and 36,000 on the front.

I am willing to sacrifice some level of handling and performance for longer treadwear.

The Goodyear F1's had a very good rating on Tire Racdk.

Apprecaite any helpful comments.

that is not bad mileage! Most people only get around 10K on the rears.

I have the Goodyears, and you wouldn't be sacrificing any performance IMO. They are great tires, dry or wet. They are as good as the RE050's in the dry and are better in the wet. Awsome tires, but I have only had them on for about 5000 miles or so, so I can't comment on tread-wear.

You got very good mileage with the RE-050 already;why don't you get new ones,if you were satisfied with the handling?
If you want better tread wear, you will sacrifice handling;don't forget,it's a sport car.!!!
If you want better handling, get the Advan Neova, but you will pay the price in tread wear.!!!

My rears may lasted about 13k at the most, I will need new rears before rainning season in Nov.

If you are willing to sacrifice some level of handling and performance for longer treadwear and also costs about half of RE050, then you may want to take a look at Kumho SPT. As of now, it is at the top of my list for the next set of tires, since I do not track my S and there is no snow in So. Cal., I do not need all season tires.

You might want to look at the Dunlop SP Sport Maxx. In the tireracks tire testing, they rated the S03 better than the goodyear, but in another test rated the Maxx better than the S03 (http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests/...=SP+Sport+Maxx). They might be just a hair under the Goodyears in wet handling, but should better in dry.

Just another tire to look into.

I'll second that. I use them - I look to be getting 8-9K out of set of them on the rear, last couple of sets of RE050s lasted only 4.5K so the tread wear is better on the Dunlops. My tire wear rates seem to suggest I like to make 'good progess' when driving the car and I am happy to roll with the Sportmaxx as far as performance goes.

You really can't look at treadware ratings. They are put on by each tire manufacturer. I don't see any tire that is going to get much more than 18K and 36K without giving up a lot of performance. The GSD3 is a very good wet traction tire but I don't think they are going to last longer. The Dunlop is a very good dry handling tire but weould not match the Goodyear in the wet.
If I can help let me know.
