Default Reverse Mounting BBS LMs

I have the opportunity to pick up a set of BBS LMs that I believe were purchased years ago from Tire Rack (at least that's what the seller is claiming). The offsets I was given were 18x7.5 +50 and 18x8.5 +55. One thing I noticed a lot of people have been doing is taking the face off (I'm having it refinished anyway), and have them reverse mounted.
I found a thread on Rennlist but I didn't find one on our site about this here. I did find a lot of pictures in the gallery in the LM thread.

Has anyone done this or have some insight on how much reverse mounting would change the offset? Will it fit properly without rolling the fenders? I'm lowered, but not much and owuld prefer to not roll the fenders.

Thanks in advance.

I found a good example.

Normal

Reverse Mounted

So if it mounted like the first picture then the offset is as high as it can be unless you re lip and barrel the wheels. If it is mounted like the 2nd pic then you could raise the offset slightly by mounting them like the first pic.

According to Mastermind NA, reverse mounting will change the offset ~15mm. In this case, that would put you at 7.5" +35 and 8.5" +40 which will not work without rolling the fenders. As is, they are similar to AP2 wheels with 10mm spacers and that is about the limit of stock fenders with no work.

Thanks for the info guys. I won't be reverse mounting them since I'm not rolling the fenders. I'm not sure how I feel about the size and offset of the wheels. I'm sure they will look ok.. just seems like a really conservative size.

They should look fine they just won't be quite flush with the fender but that's what happens if you don't want to roll the fenders.

Makes sense.
225/40-18 and 255/35-18 in the back I'm assuming.

Just shot BBS an email. I'm going to redo the faces a darker color from the current silver, and have the lips cleaned up so I want to know where I can get new bolts and valve stem. I'll have the check the center caps when I get the wheels to see what kind of condition they are in.

(and now I gotta decide whether to save my CE28 Genesis wheels or sell them)

Either those or 215 245. You will have a little more space with the 215 in front. Rear 255 is fine.

Sounds good.. I don't see RE-11a in that size so I guess I'll go find another tire. I had the RE-11a on my track wheels and the Volks so I'm used to them. I had Pilot Sports on my prior TE37s so maybe I'll go back to them, unless the new Star Specs turn out to be like the original Star Specs and not the noisey ZIIs

if these were the indeed the S2000 specific Tirerack ones, then it will have a LM 171/172 stamped on them (as well as full size/width and offset)

LM171 = 18x8 et50
LM172 = 18x9.5 et55

Let me know if you pass on them, i've been looking for S2K specs as well and like you, would prefer a darker colour(like diamond black posted by Manga) to the plain jane silver

For sure. I'll let you know. I have sourced out a company in Chicago that can polish the outter piece, and they can powdercoat the inside similar to what Manga posted). I am waiting to hear back from BBS on where I can get the new bolts as well as valve stems.

If I don't go the route of doing all this, I'll definitely let you know.
Thanks
