Default Rims Questions

Hey Everyone, I have a question regarding about aftermarket wheels. If you have an aftermarket wheels then do you need to have hub centric rings or not required? Thank you for any input on this.

It also depends on the specific wheel. If the wheels are hub centric then they don't need rings. Otherwise you will probably have some vibrations without them.

Basically they ensure the wheel is mounted perfectly centered, contrary to popular belief they do NOT take the load off the lugs and transfer it to the hub, the load is already on the hub because it is the friction from the wheel being squeezed to the hub by the lug nots that actually supports the car. Without them, if you do not get the wheel centered, you can have vibration like jim said. There is also a slim chance (depending on lug nut and wheel design) of that vibration working the lug nuts loose. If you have the proper conical nuts for the conical seats on the aftermarket wheels, this SHOULD NOT be a problem as the shape centers the wheel, but there is no guarantee.

If you are able to center the wheels and have no vibration w/o them, you are good to go, but if you are getting any vibration, then PLEASE make sure you get them. Personally I have gone with and without them on both my ASA FR1's with my DD tires and my Volk CE28n's with my autox tires and had no issues.
