depends what you want to run. 18 is bigger obviously. same goes for the tires, you can run whatever you want depending on how much of a stretch you want. im running 235/40/17 on my x8.5, which is a bit meaty, people have also ran 225/45/17 and so on.

I heard from a few people that the 17" D2's wont clear our brakes. That is why everyone runs 18". Could just be a rumor. I have never had them, just sharing what I have heard before.

17 inch d2 will not fit over the brakes
