There are a few answers.

Maybe they cannot afford anything else.
They think money should be spent else where ie turbo, hardtop ect.
Or like my situation they cannot afford the mugen m7 and $600 is more reasonable.
Or they autox and **** the rims up anyways so it does not matter what they run as long as they are cheap and light.

Eh, who cares? People do what people do for their own reasons. I personally have never owned a set of expensive wheels for a car I planned on tracking. It's just too much risk. I don't even like having tires put on my volks by a tire shop.

And after the last time I had tires changed the employee screwed up one of my wheels with 3 nice gouges in the lips and I am waiting 12+ weeks for a replacement, I think they are on to something. I may not buy Volk/Work/whatever wheels anymore because I can't stand people to touch them for fear they will damage them lol. There has to be more piece of mind with a mass produced wheel.
