Default are smaller tires (heightwise) in rear ok?

Alright, so I finally got the BFG KDW's mounted on the RE30's and on the car. ...and i'm still not 100% satisfied. As I had posted I used the 225/40/18 (f) on 18" x 7.5" +50 and 245/35/18

Almost everyone has a smaller series tire in the rear. The OEM tires are 45 series front, 40 series rear..............if you have 18's then they should be 40 series in the front, 35 series in the rear. But you can have the same size both front and rear. Right now mine are 225/40/18 front, 245/40/18 rear.

what happened is right now your front tire has a 25" diameter. rear tire has a 24.7" diameter. only real fix to to either throw a 215 on the front or a 255 on the rear.

well, I definately don't want to go thinner in the front, although a 225/35/18 has crossed my mind, ...but I like a bit of meat on the sidewall. Which leads me back to the rears; would it be better with a 245/40/18 or a 255/35/18? I think the 245/40 would be taller, the 255/35 would matcht he front in height, but also run a bit wider and I don't want to "over-do " it, but i'm fairly positive it will fit.

to answer S2K 4 Me's reply: I know it's common to have a lower number for the rears, but that doesn't always mean a smaller tire. Correct me if i'm wrong, but that number represents a percentage factor (example: the 255/35/18 is the same diameter as a 225/40/18)

...again, i'm very meticulous about this kind of stuff. I want things to match and at the same time run as big as I can and still be safe in regards to rubbing and drivability.

adittional thoughts?

Thx,
Greg

you know, it actually looks like you have a lot of room.

your biggest problem may be the bumper tap. but you can relocate that an inch backwards and take care of that.

i'd go 255/35

already relocated the bumper tab about an inch further back, and the fenders are rolled agressively.

So you think the 255/35 should fit with no problem? From the BFG data, the 255 is another 1/2" wider than what I have on there now (and 3/8" taller). But adding that width gets split between the outside and inside of the rubber, ...so technically, all I have to worry about is a 1/4 inch at the fender, ...correct?
