Default Snow

Greetings,

I am entering my first winter with my '02, and might be driving the car around in some snow, not much. On days with more than about 2 inches, I'll keep it in the garage. Any suggestions (besides not driving in the snow ) about which snow tires to get?

Thanks,
John

Currently, Bridgestone Blizzak LM-22's are the best bang for the buck. Duplicate the sizes of the OEM tires and you're good to go.
However, if you're a novice at driving RWD in snow, try to get the Blizzak WS-50's instead. They are a bit more aggressive snow tread but they will wear quicker. Also, these will be somewhat cheaper, too.

We have the Bridgestone snows in stock and they work great on the car. You can mount them on the OE wheels or we do have a wheel and tire package for the snows.
If I can help let me know.
Thank you

The LM 22 is in stock and the delivered price would be 550.56 total.
Let me know if I can help.
Thank you

I went to Firestone yesterday and got two Blizzak 225/MZ-01s (still available in limited quantities) for the rear. $348 including 6% PA tax, mounting, balancing AND free seasonal switchover for 3 years. They did not charge me for mounting the front Blizzaks (already owned).

This may be worth consideration unless you def want to buy the wheel package. The free switchover saves about $100/year and made me decide to go this route, after a quick analysis of cost after 3 years.

I just put a set of Michelin Pilot Sport A/S tires on my S2k. The only concern is that the rears are slightly narrower than stock(do not have A/S units that are comparable).

Initial impression is they are much quieter than stock and that is great, especially for the more agressive tread.

I haven't heard any pros or cons about these, but I plan to use them all 365d.

Except for the limited slip diff creating a whole new(and unfarmiliar) set of problems I suspect they will work quite well all year, and in snow up to 3-4" deep, without pushing them hard.

I made several non-stop trips from Detroit to Anson, Maine, in my youth with stock tires on a 240Z. Both were during snow storms all the way(one so bad it closed I-80 and I had to drive the PA Tpk) so I know its been done easily, with other rwd machines.

I would like to find out if there are any users of this rubber on the S2k out there and what their opinion is.

Jer, Nice to hear from you. Hope I can catch up with the DelVal bunch again this year, a lot of good times. Back in Maine we used to plow out a course on some frozen deserted lake and run individual time trials, boy that was a blast. When you did a couple of 360's you just hit the snow. I had a bug with a Porsche engine back then . . . not so sure I would use my beloved S2k for the same thing though??

Like the idea of a little weight in the back.

I purchased a set of 4 Blizzack WS50's mounted on ASA 10 spokes, as a package, from Tire Rack last Oct. I've got them on the car now, and can tell you this so far.
1.They are as quite as OEM's in the dry.
2.They ride more comfortably, than OEM's.
3. In the light snow falls we've had in Chicago so far, they are great. Especially in the ability to stop. It is like you threw and anchor out the window. Amazing. I'm completely happy with them so far.
4.They also look great!
