Default SO-3's v. YOKO AVS ES-100

My original SO-2's have 14-15K miles on them. The rears have little tread left, but the fronts have quite a bit. I'm thinking of replacing all four in the Spring.

2/3 of my driving is highway 70-80 mph, with no autocross mileage. I would also like a tire that has adequate wet weather traction and have narrowed it down to these two.

I'd like some feedback on both tires and if I should widen my search and consider any others.

S2Ksimon is correct. They are not the same kind of tire.

I can vouch for the quality of the S0-3's I absolutely love mine. They have worn much slower than I expected, most of my driving is highway conditions as well.

im on my second rear set of S03's.... i would have it no other way... es100's may be a good tire for a civic or something...but for the S...no comaprison. S03 with 110% of my vote.

Yep,I agree with the other guys.

I have a set of the ES100's on my 96 GST and the treadwear # is 280. In contrast,the S03,is a 140 # tire.

The lower the # of course, the softer the tire compound = more grip.

S-03's would be a great choice if you want to gain a bit more wet weather traction over what you'd get with the OEM S-02's.

Otherwise, I always found the S-02's were still the best tire for this car in the dry (I also do a bit of road course racing).

You are confusing the original S-02 with the S-03. While the wear index on the S-02 is indeed 140, the index on the S-03 is 220. I just bought a pair.

Specs for S-03

personally I don't think I drive that hard, but somehow I've gone through 2 sets of S03's in under 20k miles
