Default Speaking of the donut...

Just picked up a nail in my right rear (hmm, boy, that must have hurt ). Tire, of course. Just put the donut on the right rear and off I went. S handled like crap but only temp, right? Only later (fortunately only about 30 miles) did I find out that you're supposed to put the donut on the front & move the front to replace the flat rear. Never gave it a thought. When I checked the owners' manual I found out that was correct. Should be a warning ON THE DONUT about that!

BTW, found the only replacement tire within about 500 miles (according to Mr. Tire & Bridgestone) IN STOCK at Jim Coleman Honda, at a great price (about 1/2 list, installed), and they mounted, balanced and reinstalled it AFTER HOURS, while I waited. I still don't believe it.

Hey all,

I just did the same thing last week. I put on a donut on the rear left tire and drove about 15 miles and tomorrow I'm going to go get my tire replaced. I'm really worried that I messed something up.

Did you have any problems after putting your tire back on?

This is why it is a good idea to read the owner's manual before operating anything!

I am not sure why they would only want it on the front. You would not have hurt the car though.

/\ doesnt it have to do with the way the limited slip differential works. with two different sized height/width tires on the back doesnt it screw up the way the dif works?

also.. you always want to put the donut on the front anyways because it messes with car's suspension dimensions.. and the fact that its rwd.. u dont want to take off on a skinny ass tire

LOL, same thing happened to me this last weekend.

i put the donut in the rear.. putt-putted to the closest firestone and got my tires replaced. no joke, i was going like 15 mph and carefully controlling any sort of weight transfer on the car. LOL.
