Default Spoon Rims!

Hi,

It seems that the SW388 16" rims from Spoon to the S2000 take off almost 20kgs compared to the stock one. Has anyone here got it and feel the real difference in track or in public roads of this 20kgs less (not only in overall weight, but also in terms of the light weight reduces the centrifugal effect of a heavier wheel which in turn improves acceleration, steering and handling response, as well as braking response. Furthermore, stress on braking components is reduced due to the wheel's light weight and the superior heat transfer and dissipation properties of forged aluminium.) ??

If so, would like to ear some comments/thoughts.

thanks in advance

Regards,

I wish I had the opportunity to track the S2000 but haven't yet. As far as acceleration, I've noticed significant improvements compared to MY04 wheels. Braking efficiency was also improved with the help of SPOON calipers.

I have 17" Volk CE28n. I could feel the difference all around.

i have felt an improvement in overall performance as well. steering is quicker, as well as acceleration. you can really tell a difference when going from the stockers to the spoon wheels.

the 17 inch volk set up is perfection. they have a wider rim on the rear wheels than spoon. spoon doesn't even use their own wheels anymore.

Are the spoon rims really that light? I was under the impression that the stock rims were 16-17lbs each. If the Spoons are 20KG lighter then that is 44lbs lighter! That is over 10 lbs per rim so the spoons are only 7lbs each? I've never seen a rim that light in these sizes, especially ones that can be driven on the street.

I think the SPOON wheels are 11.3lbs front and 12.3lbs rear, so yeah somebody can do the math.

Not sure if this belongs in "wheel/tire", competition or S2000 Talk, but it's not really anything to do with installation or mechanical issues, so doesn't belong in UTH.
Moving to S2000 Talk for now.

I think if you go from OEM wheels, to lightweight ones like Spoon, you will definitely feel the difference.
