Default stripping powdercoat

I had my wheels powdercoated but i wasnt happy with the results, so im going back to stock finish. the shop said it would be 40 to have the wheels "stripped" and 100 to have them sand blasted. i assume they have a chemical that will remove the powdercoat (maybe im wrong?). Im just wondering whats the best route to go, wont the simple chemical that "strips" the paint be fine, or should i pay $60 more for the sandblasting? please let me know thanks.

I'm not sure, but I would think sandblasting would remove everything including the OEM finish on the wheels.

sandblasting is the only way to remove it...powdercoating is done by magnetizing the wheel, so sandblasting would be the only way to get them stripped down

LOL

Who told you that nonsense?

1) There is no magnetism involved. It's based on electrical charge.
2) Sand paper or paint stripper would remove it just as easily as sand blasting.

I think the bigger question is:

What color did you powderdcoat them, and do you have pics?

Also, after the powdercoat is taken off, you might want to re-anodize them, a custom color would be awesome. I've always thought the drab olive green you get with hard anodizing would be wicked on some wheels

sandblasting and chemical stripping will both work.
In our factory, we're stripping powderpaint everyday with chemicals, so this works very good...

the wheel has some green in the pics, but the camera did that. the wheels are a dark bronze with a little flake in them. I just hate worrking about the chips i get, the coating job was not a quality one, and i just want to go back to stock so i dont have to worry, i have also thought of polishing the wheel, but a very slight polishing, so it will not resemble chrome at all, closer to brushed alum, it should look very classy.

Just curious, but why did you powdercoat them bronze when there is a bronze color option from Volk? I was expecting something crazy, like red

I think they look great...I'm getting my rims PC'd a dark bronze on the 30th. Just stock rims, but the results should be nice. Are you having chipping problems? I really don't want to have to deal with that...maybe I'll have them put a nice clear coat on them afterwards to protect them.
