Sumitomo HTR Z any good?
I purchased the 04 AP2 recently that came with Sumitomo HTR Z tires. Are they any good? I am thinking about switching to Toyo T1R or Falken RT615, but these are brand new, the previous owner just had these installed.
I noticed that for daily driving it is ok, no much of dry traction. On a quick 1~2 shift at redline it will not chip the tire but rather a mini burn out, the car is completely stock.

The Sumitomo is a tire that is probably 20 years old in technology. When they were first out they were rated the number one performance tire in the world. I would say there are better tires for the smae kind of money. If I can help let me know.
I am a Sumitomo dealer, as well as Falken and all other major brands in the market (Goodyear, Michelin, B.F. Goodrich, Dunlop, etc). In my opinion, Sumitomo tires are junk. We sell them pretty cheap. If you think about how cheap we sell them, we'd have to buy them from the distributor for REALLY cheap. The quality isn't very good. I agree with Jim@tirerack, there are much better tires for the same money or just a bit more. I just ordered a set of Falken FK452's for my car, they should be comparable in price to the HTR Z, and a MUCH better tire overall. Hope that helps.

i have them, but they are ONLY for my Daily grind, i have never really pushed my car with the tires, but for DD duties they seem fine. im rocking some decent camber too and they refuse to wear, so i guess in that sense they're ok.
