Default THose running 18" rims

Any thoughts on the practicality of day to day driving? Pot holes etc? If one where to get some 18" GT1s, what are teh chances of the rims surviving the first pot hole?

thanks,
-Shing

I just got 18" for mine a week ago and no probs to report. But it's a foregone conclusion that you will have to take more care with potholes and rough roads. The ride itself does not seem much rougher.

By the way, what's the latest on your ASA's? Have you decided to return them?

Basically if I want 17", I have OZ and GT1 to select, if I got 18, I can have GT1, Competition, and OZ... I am torn.

It's too bad you're the 'guinea pig' so to speak in regards to the ASA wheels. I can see from the pic the tire does stick out noticeably.

I would personally go with the 18's. But one word of caution, if you go with the OZ Superlegs, go with 18x7.0 not 18x8 (for the fronts)like I did. The 18x8 does stick out ~0.5 cm or so. The 18x7.0 should tuck in nicely. Good luck!

Well I finally went with the SSR Comp in 18". Jim and Tire Rack were very helpful and friendly and said that basically whatever I wanted to do, they are good for it... so I went with the 18" SSR Comps for the car. for being there and making sure that the customer is happy in the end... not many places will be there till the end.

So is Jim/Tire Rack ever going to resolve the offset issue with the ASA wheels?

I do know that the ASA guys have seen the issue. I am not sure what's going to end up happening... but I suspect they well have to adjust the width or the offset a little.

I have a feeling that BBS is a little "off" in their offsets. Either that or other wheel manufactures state lower numbers than measured.
I'd figured that my setup with 8.5 +53 is safe cuz others using Volks 8.5 +50 are fine, but mine seem to stick out just a tad bit more. It's funny how every single mm makes a difference!
Sound like TireRack is treating you well, that's great!
Keep us posted with your SSR comps! I believe SSR's will fit better, I've personally seen the GT-3's with, I believe, 9.5 +55 running 265/35-18 tires and it seemed to stickout just like yours, but not further out.
